The National Centre for Women Development (NCWD) will soon roll out programmes on plumbing, tiling, masonry and repair of generating set and air conditioner for women.
Director-General of the centre, Lady Onyeka Onwenu disclosed this during the graduation ceremony of 90 women who were trained in various skills acquisition programmes of the centre.
They were trained in interior and outdoor decoration, cake baking, decoration and sugar craft, bread and pastry baking, bead and jewelry making and soap, detergent, pomade and air freshener production.
Onwenu said the new programmes will be introduced to make choices available to women in many aspects of skills development not restricted, thereby limiting their ability to participate in development efforts.
She said mere acquisition of skills was not enough and that the centre has incorporated topical issues as part of the training modules. These include civic education, book keeping and accounting, self-esteem, entrepreneurship development and gender awareness, among others.
