At least 134 cases of domestic violence were recorded in south-western Namibe province in 2011, Angop has learnt.

According to the report released by Family and Women Promotion Department, the cases include paternity denial and failure to provide assistance.

In relation to the previous period of 2010 there was an increase of 75 cases.

With a view to reduce the cases the provincial Department of Family and Women Promotion holds lectures and counselling in the communities.
