Women in Cameroon have staged a sit-down strike in Buea, head quarter of the South West Region of the country to appeal for a return of peace in the troubled Anglophone regions of the country.

The coalition of the women’s task force in the North West and South West region staged the protest on Wednesday morning at the Bongo Square for one hour.

The lamentation campaign as the women describe it is aimed at calling for both parties to end the war in the Anglophone regions, sue for peace and forgiveness.

The women say they are concerned mothers who have had enough of the suffering as well as lost children and grand children as a result of the crisis, they are now seeking ways to push all parties concerned to sue for dialogue and a peaceful solution out of the impasse.

This was evident during Wednesday’s march as the women carried placards denouncing the atrocities that have been going on as a result of the war and calling for urgent dialogue.
