The Ona of Abaji and chairman of the FCT Council of traditional rulers, Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, yesterday called on parents and stake-holders to always support girl-child education.

Yunusa, who stated this when indigenes, other traditional rulers, village/district heads as well as chiefs of various ethnic groups paid him Sallah homage, noted that there was need for every parent to ensure their female children are sent to school in order for them to contribute to the development of the council.


He promised to assist in the facilitation of those seeking admission into the University of Abuja, adding that those with such requests should forward their names to him.

The monarch harped on the need for peaceful co-existence among residents of the council, adding that peace, progress and development can only be achieved when there is cooperation and understanding among people.

''We must also learn how to forgive one another and be straight forward in our dealings with one another so that peace and progress can be achieved," he said.

The traditional ruler assured that he would continue to intensify efforts in ensuring that un-employed graduates secure jobs and commended the ongoing water /electricity projects in the area.

Responding, Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Musa Yahaya Mohammed, represented by the vice chairman, Alhaji Bala Hassan Garba, expressed his appreciation to God for spearing the life of the monarch as well as ensuring peaceful co-existence among residents of the council.

The chairman advised applicants seeking university admission to intensify efforst in reading science courses so that they can contribute to the development of the council.

He said the council has donated a shuttle bus for the smooth take-off of the University of Technology at Abaji, adding that two patrol vehicles were also donated to the police in order to tackle crimes in the area.
